Cookie and Local Storage Policy

This policy explains the cookies and browser-storage technologies that may be used on Free Dental CPD. It should be read with the Privacy Policy.

What these technologies are

Cookies are small text records stored by a browser. Local storage can keep information on a device for longer periods, while session storage normally lasts until the browser tab or session is closed. Similar technologies can include pixels, web beacons and identifiers used by analytics or advertising services.

Site preferences and tools

The course directory, favourites, CPD tracker and planner use first-party browser storage so that the site can remember choices without requiring an account. Depending on the feature used, this can include favourite courses, completed-course records, planner priorities, search or filter preferences and interface settings. This information normally remains on the user's device.

One exception to "stays on your device": if you enable the CPD Tracker's optional sync feature, your tracker record is additionally backed up to the FreeDentalCPD server so it can follow you across devices, and the browser stores a sync credential locally to keep the device linked. Clearing this site's browser storage unlinks the device and removes the local copy, but it does not delete a server backup that sync previously created — the tracker's sync menu has a "delete server backup" option, and our privacy policy explains the details.

First-party analytics storage

The site creates a random visitor identifier in local storage and a session identifier in session storage. These identifiers help distinguish visits and measure events such as page views, course searches, clicks and tracker actions. They are not intended to contain a name or email address.

Google Analytics

If Google Analytics is enabled, Google may set or read analytics cookies and process usage information. These cookies help measure visits, traffic sources, devices and site performance. Browser controls and Google's available opt-out tools can be used to limit this processing.

Google AdSense and advertising cookies

Google AdSense and other advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, web beacons, IP addresses and device information to deliver, limit, measure and personalise advertising. Google may use advertising cookies based on visits to this and other websites. Users can manage personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings.

Consent management

Where a consent message is enabled or required for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising choices are collected through a Google-certified consent management platform. The message allows users to accept, reject or manage relevant purposes and vendors. Similar privacy messages may be shown in other regions where required or enabled.

Managing storage

Browser settings can block or delete cookies and local storage. Doing so may clear favourites, tracker records and planner choices or reduce the site's ability to remember settings. Advertising and analytics choices should also be managed through the consent message when it is shown.

Changes

Services and vendors can change over time. This page will be updated when there is a material change to the storage technologies used by the site.
